Payment reminders in Sportio
Reminders are switched off until the club switches them on. Go to ‘Finances’ → ‘Settings’ → ‘Reminders’, turn on ‘Send reminders automatically’, and choose when the 1st and 2nd reminders are sent — for example 14 and 28 days after the due date.
A reminder is a new email with the subject «1. påminnelse: Faktura …» (1st reminder: Invoice …), or 2nd — the email is sent in Norwegian. It says the club cannot find a payment, and that the payer can ignore it if they have paid recently. Each reminder sets a new payment deadline 14 days ahead.
Reminders always go to the payer or guardian — never to the child.
- Just before sending, Sportio checks the invoice again. If it has been paid or cancelled in the meantime, the reminder is stopped.
- You can see what has been sent under ‘Reminders’ on each invoice.
Reminder fee
The reminder fee (purregebyr) is also off by default, with its own switch under ‘Reminders’. The club needs no prior agreement with the payer to charge a reminder fee (Debt Collection Act, section 17).
When it is on, Sportio adds the fee only to a reminder sent at least 14 days after the due date, and only when the 14-day deadline in the previous reminder has passed. There are at most two fees per charge.
The cap is one twentieth of the debt-collection rate (inkassosats). The debt-collection rate is NOK 750 from 1 January 2026, so the reminder fee can be at most NOK 38. The club can choose a lower amount — Sportio does not accept a higher one.
The fee appears as a separate line, «Purregebyr» (Reminder fee), on the invoice and in the reminder.

Debt collection notice and debt collection
The club can send a debt collection notice (inkassovarsel) itself (Debt Collection Act, section 9). It must be in writing, say that the claim will go to debt collection, give at least 14 days to pay, and can be sent no earlier than 14 days after the due date.
Sportio does not send debt collection notices automatically. After the notice, the club can send a payment demand (betalingsoppfordring — three twentieths of the debt-collection rate, about NOK 113 in 2026) or use a debt collection agency. Both happen outside Sportio.

Late-payment interest
The Norwegian late-payment interest rate is 12.00 % for the first half of 2026 and 12.25 % for the second half of 2026. The rate is set every six months. It can be charged from the due date without an agreement.
Sportio does not calculate interest. Most clubs choose not to charge it. If the club wants to charge interest, it has to do so itself.

Members who do not pay
Under NIF’s rules, a member who has not paid after a reminder may be removed from the membership register. A member who owes membership fees for two years must be removed (NIF statutes, section 10-6 (2)).
Sportio lists these members on ‘Overview’ under ‘Members who owe membership fees’, but never removes anyone automatically. Voting rights at the annual general meeting require a paid membership fee — an unpaid training fee does not take anyone’s vote away.
