SMS, push and notifications

Each person switches SMS on themselves

Nobody receives SMS without having confirmed their number and switched SMS on themselves. Staff and volunteers in elected roles do it under ‘My profile’ → ‘Notifications’ (‘Notification settings’). Guardians find ‘Notifications’ under ‘Profile’, athletes under ‘Settings’.

1. Enter your phone number and select ‘Send confirmation code’.
2. Enter the 6-digit code and select ‘Confirm the number’.
3. Switch on ‘Receive SMS notifications’, and under ‘What do you want to be notified about?’ choose which notifications should come by SMS.

Segments and SMS usage

One SMS message is one or more segments. A segment is up to 160 characters, or 70 characters if the message contains emoji or other special characters. Æ, ø and å count as ordinary characters. A longer message costs more segments, and Sportio cuts messages longer than four segments.

The ‘SMS usage in the club’ card under ‘My profile → Notification settings’ shows the number of SMS and segments for ‘This month’ and ‘Last month’.

If SMS is not set up in Sportio, the card says so, and notifications are sent as email and push instead.

Push in the app and in the browser

Push in the app goes to the Sportio app on your phone. The app is not in the App Store or Google Play yet.

You switch on push in the browser in the notification settings with ‘Switch on push notifications’. It applies to the browser you are using — do it on every device you want notifications on.

If you do not have the app but have switched on push in the browser, you get the notification there instead.

Add Sportio to your home screen

The portal for guardians and athletes shows ‘Install Sportio on your home screen’. The portal then opens like an app, without the address bar.

1. Android and Chrome: select ‘Install Sportio’ and confirm.
2. iPhone and iPad: open the portal in Safari, tap the Share button and choose ‘Add to Home Screen’.
